The Research Systems Group maintains a Red Hat Satellite Server for most members of the University of Michigan Software Licensing Consortium. These groups are able to install all versions of the Red Hat Linux Operating System for their faculty, staff, and student needs.
The Research Systems Group is a part of a collaboration to deliver a comprehensive linux distribution to these units via the Satellite Users community. This group, organized in the style of an IT Commons initative, is tasked with enhancing the use of Linux at the University of Michigan.
The Satellite Users Community has come up with some documentation for the installation of RHEL at the University of Michigan, and it is available at the Red Hat Users Wiki.
